Hi, I am Marilou!
If you've made it to this page, chances are you are curious to find out a bit more about me. If that is the case, then I invite you to pour yourself a cup of coffee or tea, sit for a spell, and I will share with you some of the details you've likely figured out just by browsing this website. And, of course, all of the other details that only this page can divulge.
First of all, yes, the image you see above is a cartoon character that resembles yours truly. I do have naturally curly hair about that color, which I wear tied back in a ponytail. I wear glasses (inexpensive reading glasses, that is). We have an adored pet cat with white paws. But I've never worn striped leggings and a polka dot hair band (that I can recall). Those are just some additions that are intended to make my cartoon character more fun and interesting.
This comedic character (you may see other images of this character throughout this site) was created with vector graphics, which I LOVE to work with! These graphics were created long before AI came on the scene. So, they are solely vector-based.
And that's why I use a cartoon character (instead of a photo) of myself. I can have a lot of fun with it and, at the same time, be reminded not to take myself too seriously.
Now onto the real life details: I am happily married. My husband and I have raised 3 children. I was a full-time stay-at-home mom and homemaker, until the kids grew up. Then I continued to stay at home and become a full-time dabbler in anything creative or artistic, such as:
- art
- crafting, especially with my Silhouette Cameo 5 electronic die cutter (I use the Mac version of the Silhouette Studio Business Edition software)
- embroidery (machine and free motion)
- creating and editing vector graphics and images (in CorelDraw, Inkscape, and Adobe Photoshop)
- sewing (and hopefully quilting someday)
- 3D printing
- writing
- AI image generation (I generate images only. I do not use AI for any of my writing, commentary, or any other text content)
- cooking while sitting down here in my studio area (because I have an issue with my legs that makes it difficult to stand at the kitchen counter, sink, or cookstove)
- the content creation and design of this website
My greatest inspiration is Nature (the Great Outdoors). Certain historical eras fascinate me (e.g., the late 1800's/early 1900's Victorian and Colorado mining era, etc). I also enjoy studying or observing different cultures. I tend to gravitate towards vintage, retro, or Victorian styles but I like the modern, contemporary, minimalist, Boho, and abstract styles as well.
I love all of the seasons and watching the weather. My favorite holidays are Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.
I am a homebody, an introvert, and someone who enjoys the simple things of life. But I am also curious, independent, and a hopeless romantic. I find it exciting to discover and learn new things, especially when it comprises of coming up with innovative ways to make use of what I already have.
My favorite method of relaxation is to watch ambience videos on YouTube. And my dream is to live in a farmhouse out in the country, where I can enjoy the golden years, sitting on the porch, listening to the birds, and viewing the sunset.
Thank you for visiting!
