Hi, I am Marilou!

I am first and foremost a wife, mom, and homemaker. It's the love and support of my wonderful family; my husband, son, and two daughters (and our adored cat) that keeps me balanced, as well as providing me with the opportunity to be the creative person I am.

The ideas and projects I come up are formulated and produced in my sunny Arizona, home-based studio. In the compact, approximate 40 square foot of space that makes up my studio (it's in our breakfast nook), I can be found journaling, crafting, die cutting, sewing, quilting, embroidering (machine and free motion), needle felting, 3D printing, designing and coming up with content for this website, and more. In short, if the idea falls into the art and craft genre, I will likely attempt to fit it in somewhere and try my hand at it.

A lot of my ideas are inspired by those simple joys, e.g., sunrises, sunsets, the season changes, the melodies of the birds, listening to the wind rustle the leaves on the trees, hearing the rushing sound of a mountain stream, savoring a stimulating cup of tea or coffee, inhaling the aroma of freshly baked bread, feeling the breeze of the fan and drifting off to sleep to its sound, smelling the scent of freshly mown grass, the list goes on....

While nature and the day-to-day enjoyments are my greatest inspiration, I do have a fascination for culture and history. That fascination was awakened when a move to Colorado introduced me to Colorado's mining era. I became quite intrigued with how life was in those bygone days and the efforts that were put forth to achieve progress. Likewise, I was captivated with the Victorian culture of that time and the rustic, vintage appeal of the mountains. A relocation to Arizona prompted me to broaden my interest in other cultures and historical events, as well as to consider other styles, such as boho, contemporary, and abstract. My projects might, at times, have threads of these fascinations and styles woven into them.

In my off-time, my favorite method of relaxation and meditation is to sit back, put the headphones on, and absorb the sights and sounds of ambience videos, as they have the ability to transport me into any season, weather-related event, or environment that I am in the mood or feel the need for.
